Infinity Laser Spa FAQ

We try to make the process as easy as possible, but sometimes there are some questions that come up. Read below to answer some common questions about our spa, and laser hair removal in general.

General

Laser hair removal is a safe and effective FDA-approved cosmetic procedure. The laser treatment permanently removes unwanted facial and body hair. The laser uses a beam of light to target hair follicles without causing damage to the surrounding skin. Once the hair follicles are destroyed, they are incapable of growing hair.

The treatment works on body hair that is in the active stage of growth. This is why patients need multiple sessions. During the treatment, you will see your hair become lighter and finer as the laser gradually destroys the hair follicles. You can expect a up to 95% reduction in hair growth after the treatment is over.

You will start to see results even after your first appointment. However, it is the combined effect of multiple sessions that will lead to permanent hair removal.

At Infinity Laser Spa, laser packages include a minimum of six sessions. Some go up to eight sessions. Several factors can impact how many laser sessions each patients will need. Those include the area treated, the amount of hair, the hair color, your hormone levels, your genetic background, etc.

Follow a tight session schedule. Listen to the certified laser technician’s recommendations. That will help ensure the efficiency of the treatment. Each laser hair removal session should be six weeks apart.

The cost of laser treatments varies on many factors. The larger the area, the higher the cost. Other factors will impact how many sessions you need: the skin complexion and hair color, your hair growth cycle, prior hair removal methods used. This will influence the cost too.

All our laser packages include at least six sessions. Our packages for one year of unlimited laser hair removal include up to eight sessions. Our laser package prices start at $99.

The length of a laser session will vary on the size of the area treated and the number of areas.

Small area: 10 to 15 minutesMedium area: 20 to 25 minutesLarge area: 30 to 35 minutesExtra large: 45 to 60 minutes.

Combining multiple areas in one appointment will require a longer session. For example, one session of full body (including back) takes 2 hours.

Laser hair removal is a long-term hair growth reduction method. It will produce near permanent results for some patients. Some other patients may see slight regrowth here and there after some months or years. Thus, they may need a touch-up session.

Patients must avoid direct sunlight or exposure to UV-rays (i.e., tanning beds) at least ten days before their appointment. They must shave the night before their appointment. Additionally, the skin must be cleaned off of any lotions, moisturizers, makeup or creams.

If you are taking medications, please tell your certified laser technician. Indeed, some medication can increase sensitive to light and make the treatment less comfortable.

You will see results after your first session. The hair will start shedding a week after. However, you will notice significant hair growth reduction after the third session.

Yes, there are. We dedicated a blog post to the matter. Avoid direct sunlight. You must wait 24 hours before taking a hot shower or working out. Avoid plucking and waxing.

First Laser Session (don't be nervous!)

Waxing, tweezing and plucking all remove the hair roots, which the laser needs to target. Body hair needs up to six weeks to completely grow after a wax. Thus, waxing between sessions can interfere with the treatment, reducing its efficiency and increasing its duration. If you want to remove unwanted body hair before our next session, it is better to shave.

We do not recommend patients to do any activities that would cause sweating. Indeed, tight fitness gear and sweat contribute to creating an ideal environment for bacteria development. Chafing may also irritate the skin. Patients must give their skin time to calm down and keep their body cooler to reduce irritation and pain.

Laser hair removal leaves the skin on the treated area more sensitive. Patients should avoid hot showers as they can irritate or even burn the skin. Instead, it is better to take lukewarm showers, especially the first week.

Staying in the sun, tanning or using sunbeds is not recommended after laser hair removal. They can indeed cause pigmentation change on the treat area. Laser hair removal leaves the skin sensitive and more vulnerable to sun damage. Patients should use physical sunblocks with SPF 50 to protect their skin.

Hair follicles are sensitive to irritants after laser hair removal. Clogging the pores with foundation or concealer can cause reactions or breakouts on the skin. Patients should wait 24 hours after their laser hair removal session before applying makeup. Makeup should be removed each evening before bed so the skin can breathe.

Using any kind of scented product after your laser treatment should not be done for 24-48 hours.

It is better to not use any kind of lotion on the treated area for 24 to 48 hours after laser hair removal. However, patients can apply aloe vera gel on the treated area to soothe and moisturize the skin.

Fraxel C02 Treatment

A pulsing beam of precisely-targeted infrared light emitted by the system acts to break down into thousands of tiny bits of light, for deep penetration into the facial tissue layers. The pulsing beam takes only a millisecond, stimulating your skin to expel damaged skin cells, and generating new cells.

Through the system’s carefully targeted fractional light, only a precisely targeted area of the skin is treated. The laser leaves surrounding healthy skin and tissue intact for rapid healing and fast recovery.

Fractional carbon dioxide lasers have one of the longest wavelengths of all lasers. Thus, it can be used safely on a wide range of skin types, including darker skin. The system can be finely-adjusted to a variety of settings, based upon the skin type and needs of the individual client.

Fractional CO2 lasers treats skin conditions including: deep wrinkles, fine lines around the upper and lower lips, precancerous growth, drooping skin around the eyes, acne scars, rough or uneven skin texture, fine lines and loose skin around the eyes, sun damage, blotchiness, line or creased brow, surgical scars.

Fractional CO2 Laser is done on a per case to case basis. Each individual is different with unique skin and skincare challenges. Some skin conditions will require more sessions than others. Therefore we advise to schedule a free consultation. Make sure you speak of all the skin needs to your esthetician including your medical history and sensitivity.

The downtime will vary from one person to another and how deep the treatment was. It usually takes up to two weeks for the skin to fully heal after one session. Aftercare includes staying away from the sun and applying moisturizers. Usually patients notice redness and skin peeling right after the treatment, however usually skin calms down within 4-5 days.
