Laser hair removal works on all skin tones and complexions. However, the success of the treatment relies on the skin-to-hair contrast. Thus, it can be trickier to treat dark hair on dark skin or fair hair on light skin.
People of color or with white skin and blonde hair may need more sessions to ensure all the hair is targeted effectively.
Genetics can also play a role. The hair growth cycle too. If you have a strong hair growth, you may need more sessions. As hormones trigger hair growth, high hormone levels may interfere with your treatment too.
The face is a very hormonal area. Thus, the hair is thicker, darker and grows faster. You may need additional sessions as a result.
Your previous hair growth history will also have an impact. Did you use to wax? If so, know that waxing reduces hair growth in the long-term. Thus, you may have already started the process and have less hair to target.
How do I prepare for a session?

Avoid exposure to direct sun light. Do not use tanning beds and intense UV ray treatments. Indeed, artificial tanning puts the skin into an excited state that can interfere with your treatment.
Some medications can increase sensitivity to the light. This will make the upper lip laser treatment more painful. That is why you need tell your certified laser technician of your medical history before your session.
Clean your skin of lotions, creams, moisturizers, scented fragrances and makeup. Finally, you need to shave the night before or at lest three hours prior to your session.
When can I expect results?
Laser hair removal is a long-term hair growth reduction method. Yet, that does not mean you will not see results early on. Indeed, each session treats 20% of hair.
That is why you can expect a 20% hair growth reduction after each session.
You will start to see your hair shed a week after your session. By the third session, at least 50% of body hair will be gone. The success of your upper lip laser hair removal treatment depends on consistency.
This means you must book each session six weeks apart. If you do not follow a strict schedule, you will interfere with the efficacy of the treatment. Therefore results may be delayed.
